The Padel Club TraffordCity Officially Opens as the UK’s Largest Purpose-Built Padel Facility.

The Padel Club, in partnership with Peel Waters, proudly announces the completion and grand opening of The Padel Club TraffordCity - the UK’s largest purpose-built Padel facility, located in TraffordCity, Manchester.

The completion of Phase 2 brings an additional five brand-new indoor courts to the landmark Padel destination. Following the completion of Phase 1 of the club earlier in the year, The Padel Club TraffordCity now has 11 fully operational and playable courts within TraffordCity which is widely recognised as the UK’s premier retail and leisure destination. The club also features a popular clubhouse and outdoor social spaces, designed to foster community and connection beyond the court.

Unlike many other Padel venues housed in repurposed warehouses, The Padel Club TraffordCity has been custom designed from the ground up, with a £2.7 million investment by The Padel Club and architectural input from wellness design specialists Zync Design. The result is a facility that blends sport, lifestyle, and design in a way that sets a new benchmark for Padel in the UK.

This opening comes at a pivotal moment for Padel, which is now the fastest growing sport in the world. Globally, over 30 million people play Padel across 130+ countries, with Europe leading the charge - especially Spain, Italy, and Sweden. In the first half of 2025 alone, 132 international tournaments were held across 38 countries, and Padel-related digital engagement continues to soar. The UK has embraced the sport with unprecedented enthusiasm. From just 15,000 players in 2019, the country now boasts over 400,000 active players, with more than 1,000 courts across 350 venues. Public awareness has surged to 43%, and 8 million Brits have expressed interest in trying padel. The Lawn Tennis Association has invested £6 million into Padel development, further cementing its place in the national sporting landscape.

Since opening Phase One in March, the club has quickly become a regional hotspot, consistently ranked as one of the most popular Padel facilities in the region, on the official Playtomic app. Overseen by General Manager Claire Monaghan, The Padel Club TraffordCity has gone beyond just being a sporting destination by regularly hosting a range of events from family sessions, lessons and tournaments, to Padel & pizza nights and DJ-led socials. The club is also regularly partnering with leading brands for activations and club “takeovers” making it not just a sporting venue, but a PR magnet and social hub.

Spanning 500 acres, TraffordCity has been master planned by regeneration specialists Peel Waters and attracts 44 million visits annually. The highly connected location is one of the UK's most dynamic destinations, blending retail, leisure, sport, and entertainment, including The Trafford Centre, Trafford Golf Centre, Dino Falls Adventure Golf, The Snow Centre (formerly known at The Chill Factore), Trafford Palazzo, i-Fly, David Lloyd, and the much anticipated Therme Manchester, a 26-acre urban wellness resort.
